Roll-Off Dumpsters: What Can and Can’t Be Thrown Out

Are you in the process of cleaning out your home or business? Are you working on a construction site and do you have a lot of materials that need to get thrown out? Having to figure out where to put the junk and where to dispose of it can be a major hassle. It will take away time and resources from cleaning out or fulfilling your project.

Mad Trash has you covered. With just a simple call, we can take all of your junk removal needs off your shoulder. Our popular roll-off dumpsters come in two sizes. You can rent them out for as long as you need, and our team will dispose of the junk inside them. While you are loading up your dumpster, or before you invest in this option, here are items that you can and can’t throw into roll-off dumpsters.

What Can’t You Dispose of in Roll-Off Dumpsters?

Just like regular trash bins, there are certain materials that can’t be thrown into roll-off dumpsters. There are guidelines to adhere to that are implemented for environmental reasons. There are also state and local regulations to follow. As a common rule of thumb, here are a couple of items that are a no-go.

Paint, Stains, and Lacquers

You can not put any liquid-based items into dumpster rentals. This includes paint, paint thinners, wood stains, lacquers, wet paint, oil, and all other liquids. The only exception is latex-based paints. Allow this paint to completely dry out, so it’s solidified. Once it’s dried and hardened, you can toss it in the dumpster.

Hazardous Waste Disposal

Some of the hazardous waste that can’t be disposed of in the roll-off dumpsters are gasoline, asbestos, pesticides, motor oil and other automotive fluids, household cleaners, contaminated soil or absorbents, medical waste, and so on.

Batteries and Tires

Dry-cell and car batteries can’t be put in the dumpster because they may leak harmful chemicals into the environment. You can recycle the car batteries at any retail store that sells them.

The majority of landfills in this country don’t accept tires, so neither do dumpster rentals. You can take your old tires to a local auto shop.

What Can You Dispose of in Roll-Off Dumpsters?

The good news is that there is quite a lot of junk that you can throw away in our dumpster rentals. Nearly every type of furniture is allowed, such as mattresses, tables, couches, chairs, dressers, barstools, box cases, cabinets, box springs, and so on.

Appliances

As for appliances, as long as they don’t contain hazardous materials or freon, you can dispose of them in roll-off dumpsters. Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning units, washers, dryers, and other appliances can be thrown out as long as the hazardous materials are taken out.

Yard Waste

Sod, mulch, trees, grass, and branches can all be thrown into our roll-off dumpsters. However, don’t mix this vegetative debris with construction junk since landfills recycle vegetative debris by turning it into mulch.
